Lomati Village, Cicia, Lau
Site Description
Cicia is a volcanic island situated in the Northern Lau group. Total land area is 34sq km with a total of 5 villages.
The village of Lomati is currently implementing steps to rehabilitate their slowly depleting mangrove forests. They have since completely prohibited the felling of mangroves trees for building and firewood.
Rhizophora stylosa (Tiri Tabua) and Bruguiera gymnorhiza (Dogo) are the species being planted as they mirror the natural mangrove composition of the area.
